Electrifying a Log Home

We were approached by a family who owned an amazing log cabin in New Hartford. The 2700SF home features dramatic open space, bedrooms for the kids and guests, two large decks, and an office space. There is a lower-level garage that enters the house from below with utility storage, and spare bedrooms. They asked us what options were available to retrofit the home which featured some 14-16″ diameter logs. Their goals were to explore options to get off fossil fuels, improve comfort, and produce and store energy from the sun.

Looking for Land to Build On

Designing and building your home from the ground up can be one of the most exciting and fulfilling projects of your life. After all, it’s crafted around what matters to you and it offers the opportunity to bake in qualities that matter to the planet. But before that can begin, you’re going to need to find that ground.

There is a lot to consider when looking for the right land to build on. A desirable building site must satisfy as many criteria as possible while evaluating the relative value of those that may be harder or more challenging to reach or achieve.

Joe Lemeiro & Tile America

There is no substitute for seeing a product in person. This is doubly true for finishes, and perhaps nowhere as important as in the selection of tile. Since 2000 the person we want you to meet with is Joe Lemeiro at Tile America in West Hartford.

Designing for Multi Generational Living

For a few years now as often as not folks thinking about building or remodeling a home mention an interest in providing space for parents to live, either now or in the future. While this is a common practice around the world it is less common here, so we are excited to help folks plan for this, and we have done several satisfying projects that meet this need.

Here's some useful guidance about planning for multi generational living.

A Design Seat to fill

We're still on the search for an Architect to round out the Wolfworks Design Team. This is a great opportunity for a mission aligned architect with a passion for residential design to work alongside Kyle, Janet, and Connor to create "Homes that Fit." It's also an opportunity to become a member of our worker coop.
