The Mysteries of the Housing Market

Many are ready to move but don’t want to lose the low-rate mortgages they locked in a few years ago, crimping the supply of homes and keeping prices high.

Buying a home is likely to be the biggest financial decision you will ever make. As a result, such a decision requires careful consideration of your financial situation, personal life, and the state of the housing market. And with interest rates at their highest levels since 2008, many are worried that now isn’t the right time to become a homeowner.

But before we write off the housing market entirely, let’s do a deep dive on the real estate market to definitively answer the question, “Should I buy a house now?”

These two posts take that deep dive.

Doing Projects in Phases

Accomplishing the whole by achieving it in parts. Project phasing gets the job done.

There are many ways to make a good home better, but it is not unusual for it to make sense to achieve them in phases.
By exploring all the ways a home can be improved, evaluating costs and making strategic decisions to pursue projects in phases over time, investments are managed to create homes that work in every way the owners need.

One of the most important virtues of this approach is that by looking at these projects as a whole each phase could stand on the shoulders of the work that came before. There are no wasted moves.

Trade Spotlight: Rob Allen

Meet Rob Allen. His dad Bruce had been doing carpentry and tile work for us for a few years when we first met Rob and noticed his interest and initiative. Before long it was Rob taking the lead on projects.

On our projects he has had the chance to learn about how we design and construct high performance homes, paying careful attention to executing all those details. We’ve become confident in that interest and intiative as we continue to depend on him and his right hand man Mike to construct what we design.

Spaces that nurture the interests of every household member. Some seek a quiet retreat. Others desire an open playspace for friends. It could be a place to craft or create. It’s nice to have room to exercise or meditate. These places encourage everyone to find a space for themselves.
