Why Cost per Square Foot is a confusing measure |

When thinking about building or remodeling folks are rightly eager to understand the answer to an important question: What's possible at what cost? The common assumption is that this can be reasonably answered by determing the cost per square foot for the proposed project. It's not! Or at least it's not that simple. There are a lot of dials to adjust on our cost control panel, beginning with a not always obvious question: What's a square foot?

You meet the world at at your front door. You want to be able to welcome friends and family at this entry, offer them shelter outside, and enough space to exchange greetings or bid farewell indoors without feeling cramped. This means first and foremost, that folks need to intuitively recognize where to enter. The entry shapes expectations, which you hope are met when you welcome them inside. Where Can You Build? The search for land |

We keep an eye out for land that could be suitable for building a new Zero Energy Home in a desirable location. This month we're spotlighting two lots on Haynes Road in Avon. Located in a wooded suburban neighborhood near schools, these two lots have the advantage of access to all utilities - no additional costs for well or septic sytems.
