Hi Jamie,

We'd like to welcome you to Wolfworks newsletter about the people, projects, and ideas that inspire our work and our relationships with folks like you.

In this issue we promote the Electrify movement and "The Pretty Good House" idea, tell a tale of house fashion, showcase a multi-generational high performance zero energy home project, and honor Karen Hartford retiring after two lively decades at Wolfworks.

Electrify Everything

An abundant future with ready access to clean, sustainable energy for all of us is now entirely possible to achieve.  We can help create this future through the energy choices we make. By choosing to electrify we can help prevent the worst effects of climate change, save money on energy costs, reduce air and water pollution, improve our daily lives, and accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.  Visit this website to learn more about why electrification is such a potent and essential action, and how you can take steps in your own life to build a better future for everyone.

The Pretty Good House

We are members of a building community who shares our mission to create homes built on the principles of building science and are thus healthier, more comfortable, durable, and energy secure that the homes of the past. These are homes that are conscious of their environmental impact and are built accordingly. Our friends and colleagues distilled this thinking in a new book titled "The Pretty Good House" that does a great job of distilling this thinking for people considering building or renovating a home.

Orange Cars and Black & White Houses

Fashion is fun AND fashion is temporary. Fashion in houses is fun but houses aren’t temporary. They are hopefully being built to last, so their style lasts with them. Which current design trends will still be with us in ten years - and will we still like them. What's the difference between quintessence and obsolescense?

Zero Energy Multi Generational Home

Over the past few years we have been invited to create spaces for two generations of a family to share. On these projects we have two distinct chapters becoming part of a shared home story. This home in Avon is one of those stories. And yes, like all our homes, this home was designed to require very little energy to operate. We can then harvest the sun to produce all the energy the home requires - and store it in batteries.

Karen Retires

From the day she arrived at Wolfworks in 2002, Karen Hartford's bright smile and ever earnest intent to be supportive and helpful to everyone she's worked with has brightened our days. After twenty eventful years Karen retired as the Labor Day weekend began and it seems fitting to honor the legacy of her working days and just how much she has mattered to the company she joined back then and has contributed to the company we are today.
